My weight is 106 kg. I am 5'8" 52 year old diabetic. I take sitagliptin and metformin tablets to control sugar. I follow intermittent fasting with 1900 calorie consumption. I don't take sugar or sweets. Only home cooked food, fruits and nuts. I work out 5 days in a week with cardio and weightlifting for 50 minutes. But I am not losing weight at all. What could be the reason.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details given and understand your concern. Following are my observations: 1) your current bmi (body mass index) is 34,89 kgs/sq meter (normal < 23 kgs/sq meter). At your age and height ideal body weight should be 63 kgs. Which means you have an excess of 41 kgs. 2) your food intake in terms of calories should be based on ideal body weight that is 63 kgs. Since you have to loose weight maximum calories that can be taken should not exceed 63 x 20 = 1260 k calories a day. In fact since you are looking loosing weight, the intake should be just about 1000 clas a day. 3) as regards exercises that you are doing, it is good to know. But it is better to do the same under the guidance of a trained instructor. The intensity needs to be be increased. 4) your aim should be to loose a minimum of 2 to 3 kgs per month. Even you if you loose 10 kgs in next 4 months there will be considerable improvement in glucose control and feeling of wellbeing. 5) there is no mention of fbg, pp glucose & hba1c% so no idea at all about actual glucose control. Also there is no mention about lipid profile and liver function test values. If you are really serious in reducing weight then all the above suggestions need to be followed. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.
